A teenager was killed in a shooting just outside of Citrus Park Mall in Tampa Saturday, according to Hillsborough County deputies.

The incident happened outside of a Red Robin restaurant located near the entrance of the mall around 7 p.m.

The teen boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

One mall employee said the shooting caused a lot of commotion.

"It's just very scary, you never know what could happen," said FYE store employee Samuel Lozano. "This just happened all of a sudden, and I was just panicking because everything happened so fast."

Deputies said they are still searching for the shooter and are speaking to several witnesses

While deputies have yet to identify the boy, a GoFundMe set up by his family identified him as 16-year-old Peter Hyman Jr. or “PJ” — an honor student and beloved son who was taken too soon.

“He was only 16 years old. He was a good kid, honor student at Jefferson High School, member of Greater Mount Carmel Church, and a beloved son, brother, grandchild, and friend. Those who know him know he was funny, sweet, goofy, and loved to dance, play video games, and basketball. He loved his family and friends and made friends with anyone without judgment,” the GoFundMe description read. “We are heartbroken.”
