It’s official — Jordan Burroughs and James Green are back.

Both former Husker greats, Burroughs and Green each won their brackets this weekend in Omaha at the World Team Trials, claiming a couple spots on the 2024 U.S. World Team. Green was back at his optimal weight of 70 kg, while Burroughs was back up at 79 kg.

Burroughs will now be on his 12th World or Olympic Team, an incredible feat of longevity and excellence, especially when you consider the guys, he kept from getting on World Teams throughout his career — guys like Kyle Dake, David Taylor, Alex Dieringer, Isaiah Martinez, Andrew Howe and Chance Marsteller.

Green, he’ll be on his seventh career World Team at 70 kg. He won bronze in his first trip to Worlds in 2015 and finished with silver in 2017. Before having successful hip surgery at the end of 2022, Green retired from the sport. In fact, he needed a cane to get around at the NCAA Championships in March of 2023.
